DAAD MIDE Scholarship (Berlin University) | Fully Funded 2024
The Berlin University of Applied Sciences offers DAAD MIDE Scholarships to qualified international students seeking educational opportunities in Germany.
The DAAD MIDE Scholarship is a fully financed opportunity that covers tuition fees, travel expenses, and a €11,208 living stipend per year. DAAD Scholarships additionally provide the monthly rent subsidy and a monthly grant for accompanying family members.

HTW Berlin, the largest university of applied sciences in Berlin, through the DAAD MIDE Scholarship 2024, offers an 18-month full-time Master’s degree programme in “International and Development Economics” (MIDE), taught entirely in English.
Designed for students from developing and transitional countries as well as from Germany and other developed countries with a special interest in the economic challenges facing “third world” countries, the programme prepares students to work in areas related to global economic affairs and development.
The Master’s programme in International and Development Economics has been established for students who have a first degree in economics/business administration or in other social sciences with a focus on economics.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered for the DAAD MIDE Scholarship 2024, you must:
- come from a developing country
- have at least two years of professional experience since graduation, but should not have graduated more than six years ago.
- have obtained a first university degree with 180 ECTS (or equivalent).
- have taken at least 15 ECTS in Economics (3 modules in Economics for applicants from abroad).
- meet the English Language requirements for postgraduate study at the university
Benefits:
The DAAD MIDE Scholarship is one of the DAAD Development-Related Postgraduate Scholarships. It covers;
- monthly payments of 934 euros.
- Payments towards health, accident, and personal liability insurance cover.
- Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding.
Under certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:
- Monthly rent subsidy
- Monthly allowance for accompanying members of family
Required Documents:
To apply, candidates must be ready to submit the following documents;
- A letter of motivation (max. two pages long), dated and signed by you
- Transcript of records (including CGPA) and degree certificate (s) (official translations into English or German must be provided)
- An explanation of the grading system at your previous university (which is usually already part your transcript and/or the Diploma Supplement).
- CV (Europass format), dated and personally signed by you
Copy of your passport - Proof of your English language proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS are not required if English was the official language of instruction for the first degree, please supply official proof)
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate that includes the date of graduation from Secondary School.

To apply for the DAAD MIDE Scholarship 2024, interested and qualified applicants should;
- Make sure you fulfill the admission requirements.
- Prepare electronic copies of the necessary supporting documents and complete the MIDE application form.
- Submit your application via the online form available on the program’s website –from 15 May until August 31.
