“We’re gonna fly home on the wings of Jakes Bates” Dan Miller got the ideal radio call for the Lions’ exciting game-winner against the Texans

Victory Monday feels a little different when you’ve just witnessed your team’s incredible comeback in front of a national audience.

Are Detroit Lions Taking Ultimate Gamble on Jake Bates?

The Detroit Lions scored 19 unanswered points in the second half to completely take the game away from the Houston Texans. Five Jared Goff interceptions? Does not matter. A running game that was entirely under control for three quarters? That is OK.

None of this mattered to the Lions, who just kept coming until the Texans couldn’t stop them anymore. The Lions are now 8-1 and must feel unbeatable after winning a road game against a great opponent despite a poor first half of football.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of Victory Monday is hearing the best calls from Lions play-by-play radio announcer Dan Miller, who delivered an all-time classic this week.

The Lions released his call for Detroit’s game-winning 52-yard field goal as time expired, and… well… just watch:

“We’re gonna fly home on the wings of Jakes Bates” is just a killer line to come up with on the spot.

We’re happy to have this football team, and we’re also fortunate to have Miller as the narrator.
