Jake Bates’ 44-yard field goal sealed the victory in a shootout between the two most successful teams in the NFC North Division this season.

The Lions’ 31-29 victory overshadowed a defence that appeared unsure of itself at times following standout pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson’s broken leg injury in the previous week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn’s team blitzed on 20 of 35 Sam Darnold dropbacks, the best rate in a game since Glenn’s debut with the Lions in 2021.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell recently updated the Lions faithful on the matter, claiming that general manager Brad Holmes is attempting to solve Detroit’s pass-rushing conundrum.

“Brad’s been grinding on this, ever since last week,” Campbell said. “He’s been going and looking at really everything that could potentially be available. And so much of it is making calls,” he added.

The rumour mill has linked Detroit to former Eastern Michigan star Maxx Crosby, as well as value-priced trade possibilities.

Campbell indicated that the team considers numerous things before considering a prospective transfer, that Holmes will not “force it.”

“First of all, who do you like on tape? Who is worth something? And it’s not just because somebody says they’re a good player,” Campbell said.

“You’ve got to put your own eyes on it and do the homework.

“But believe me, we’re looking,” Campbell added. “Brad’s on it, and we’ll find somebody that fits us and brings something. Like I said, a complementary piece that helps that d-line.”
