Kris Boyd reveals what Rangers need to do now to catch Celtic and Aberdeen
Kris Boyd believes Rangers must quickly strengthen their attacking style following their 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.
On October 20, Philippe Clement’s team headed to Rugby Park and came away empty-handed thanks to a late Marley Watkins goal.
Rangers have now failed to score in three of their four league away games, and Boyd, speaking on Sky Sports on October 23, wants to see that change immediately.
āI think they need to start creating more opportunities,ā he said.
āWhen you look at their away form, itās not been great. One goal scored, thatās an area Rangers have to improve in.
āItās slow, the build up, everything just seems to be pedestrian, and it needs to be a lot sharper.ā
Rangers need to change immediately at Ibrox
Rangers have had a dismal start to the season, sitting six points behind the leaders in the Scottish Premiership.
The Bears have now lost two league games, and Clement must find a way to turn things around, even though the Belgian does not appear to be in danger of losing his job [Rangers Review].
Cyriel Dessers has been the main striker for over a year, but the Nigeria international has yet to win over many supporters, and his lethargic performance in the loss to Kilmarnock was not encouraging.
Despite his flaws, the 29-year-old remains the club’s leading striker this season, with seven in all competitions, highlighting the forward line’s struggles.
Vaclav Cerny, Ross McCausland, and Rabbi Matondo have all been unable to regularly find the back of the net, and this needs to change.
Cerny summed it up brilliantly against Lyon in the Europa League, squandering a golden opportunity with the goal at his mercy.
The Belgian must find the correct recipe in the coming weeks, or his position at the top of the club’s hierarchy could change swiftly at Ibrox.
