The Guardians lost the American League Championship Series to the New York Yankees, despite winning the postseason series against the Detroit Tigers.

The Guardians fell one series shy of reaching the World Series, and they will now aim to reorganize this offseason for another chance at the title in 2025.

Off-seasons are normally filled with rumors about players signing with other clubs, but the Guardians are considering adding a catcher prospect in 2026.

According to Guardians Prospective on ‘X,’ the Guardians are the favorites to sign catcher prospect Sebastian Puche from Zulia, Venezuela.

Cleveland #Guardians are favorites to sign (C) prospect Sebastian Puche out of Zulia, Venezuela. Puche trains with Luis Romero. He is not eligible to sign until the 1/15/26 International signing day.

The Guardians are the odds-on favorites to sign Puche when he becomes eligible on International Signing Day in January 2026.

With Bo Naylor and David Fry mentioned as the Guardians’ current catchers, Puche may have some young catchers to learn from within the Guardians organization.

In 123 games for the Guardians in 2024, Naylor batted.201 with 13 home runs, 39 RBI, and a.614 on-base plus slugging percentage.

Puche will be a name to keep an eye on in the coming seasons as the Guardians look to sign the Venezuelan prospect.
