They have worked well with numerous top starters for over a decade and deserve all of the acclaim they receive.

To teach and produce trustworthy pitchers year after year, the Guardians must hire the correct personnel.

They made a good hire on Wednesday, bringing in Ezra Bye from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Bye has previously worked with the Houston Astros.

“Guardians land former Dodgers/Astros pitching mind into new pitching dev role. Those orgs have done a great job historically with pitching and Cleveland obviously has a reputation and looking to improve there again,” Guardians reporter Justin Lada posted on X.

Bye himself had announced his hire on X.

Bye, a former pitcher (he registered stats in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in 2016), has spent the last few years on the ‘other’ side of the game.

He joined the Dodgers in 2024, where he helped establish a new rehab throwing program, among other things.

He left Los Angeles after playing a key role in the team’s World Series victory.

Cleveland understands that the foundation for a successful player development program begins with prepared, forward-thinking individuals such as Bye.

His formal title will be Assistant for Pitching Development and Analysis.

He appears to be eager and excited about his new opportunity with an up-and-coming group like the Guardians.

He undoubtedly has a lot to offer to help Cleveland pitch toward the top of the league.
