Former Chelsea manager is getting closer to becoming Everton manager, according to reports

Everton’s probable new owners, the Friedkin Group, are already contemplating Sean Dyche successors, according to sources.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) has yet to finalize a deal to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority share in Everton, but they are reportedly considering candidates to replace current manager Sean Dyche in the dugout.

It may surprise some observers, given Dyche’s great job keeping the Toffees up in the face of point deductions last season and propelling them to 15th place this season, but the climate around the club has soured slightly in recent weeks.

This latest report may have the 53-year-old looking over his shoulder if TFG gets their feet beneath the table.

According to TEAMtalk, TFG has identified Porto manager Sergio Conceicao as their prime priority to take over if they get control of the club.

Former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter is also on their list, as he is with most Premier League openings right now, with Edin Terzic and another former Blues manager, Maurizio Sarri, emerging as prospective candidates.

The current Everton administration confirmed their belief in Dyche during the Toffees’ recent scoreless draw against a 10-man Brentford, despite being booed off the pitch by fans.

It extended their goalless streak to three games, the latest coming from Beto’s stoppage-time equaliser against Fulham.

That streak also included a devastating 1-0 loss to Premier League strugglers Southampton, who had gone without a win all season until that moment.

When Premier League action resumes this weekend, the Merseyside club will meet a rejuvenated Manchester United under new manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

In FourFourTwo’s perspective, Dyche’s work at Everton is sometimes overlooked; they added some intriguing talent in the summer, and players like Dwight McNeil have really stepped up, but this isn’t a roster that will propel the Toffees up the table.

That is best exemplified by a 39-year-old Ashley Young replacing a 36-year-old Seamus Coleman at full-back – few coaches will be able to come in and combat scenarios like that with the intensity of the Premier League.

Perhaps a change is in order, but Everton’s problems appear to extend beyond Dyche. The grass is not always greener on the other side.
