Brentford suffer Fresh injury blow, as manager Thomas Frank delivers update on The Bees Injuries
The Bees striker scored in Saturday’s defeat against Manchester City before being pulled out before the halftime with an ankle injury.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank has revealed that attacker Yoane Wissa would miss “a couple of months” due to an ankle injury.
Wissa opened the goal against Manchester City in the first 30 seconds on Saturday, but was replaced just before halftime after a challenge with Mateo Kovacic.
Frank revealed Wissa would be sidelined for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup match against Leyton Orient.
“Wissa is not good news. It looks like an injury that will be a couple of months,” Frank said at a press conference. “It is very frustrating. It will leave a hole, but I will find a solution and other players will step up.”
Brentford are already missing summer signing Igor Thiago, who has a knee injury, while England striker Ivan Toney left for Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli before the transfer deadline.
Frank continued, “It will leave a large hole. Everyone assumed we got Igor Thiago to replace Ivan (Toney), but we still had Wissa. We bought Igor Thiago to help build the squad and offer competition.
“Wissa had a very good season last year and I thought he has started the season very well this year, with three goals in four games, that’s a very good number.
“He’s just been very important for us and that’s going to leave a hole. But, again, I will find a solution.”
