Arsenal could be poised to approve a heartwarming move for one of its players.

Kieran Tierney transfer windfall revealed as Arsenal confirm loan exit - football.london

Arsenal may sanction Kieran Tierney’s emotional return to Celtic during the January transfer window. The 27-year-old has yet to make his Premier League debut of the season, having been injured while playing for Scotland at Euro 2024.

Tierney has dropped down the pecking order at Emirates Stadium in recent seasons, with only two years remaining on his contract. He appears to be back to Celtic sooner rather than later, as Arsenal apparently judged him surplus to needs.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal have informed Tierney that he will be free to depart north London when the transfer window reopens in January. Celtic are supposed to be interested in bringing him back to Parkhead and have been following his position.

Tierney played over 100 league games for the Scottish giants before joining Arsenal in the summer of 2019. He is highly regarded by the club’s followers, who would welcome him back if he returned in January.

Tierney was spotted having a serious talk with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers at a charity event in London. They both attended the Celtic Foundation’s annual dinner last week and were seen chatting together.

Rodgers has made no secret of his fondness for Tierney, whom he managed during his initial tenure at Celtic Park before rejoining the club last year.

The former Liverpool manager previously hinted at a potential transfer for Tierney, but questioned if Celtic could afford his salary.

“When I spoke to him down the road in the Premier League, every time we met up all we talked about was Celtic,” said Rodgers last year. “He’s a Celtic man but he’s at a fantastic club in Arsenal. You can just never say never in football. Who knows what might happen?

“I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t be able to pay the huge salary he’s on. However, one can never tell. Kieran has an incredible history with the club. He was a massive part of my time here, so there will always be that link. You never know.”
