A new analysis reveals the terrifying scale of Celtic’s squad value as The Hoops are ranked in the top ten most valued squads
Celtic have the world’s ninth most valuable squad, excluding UEFA’s top ten ranked teams.
According to Football Benchmark, the Scottish Premiership champions rank high among the remaining top divisions from across the world in terms of total player worth.
The site estimates Celtic’s squad value to be €137 million. The squad’s average age is 26.
They are joined on the list by other major European and South American clubs, including River Plate, RB Salzburg, Palmeiras, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Flamengo.
The remaining four clubs are all Saudi. This includes Jota’s former club Al-Itthad, as well as Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, and Al-Nassr, which Cristiano Ronaldo plays for.
Flamengo, a prominent Brazilian club, sits at the top of the list. Their squad is valued at €210 million.
When Europe’s greatest leagues, such as the Premier League, La Liga, and Bundesliga, are removed, it comes as no surprise that Celtic makes the top ten.
Brendan Rodgers spent almost £30 million this summer, with big money signings Arne Engels for £11 million and Adam Idah for £9 million.
Of course, Matt O’Riley went to join Brighton for a sum in excess of £25 million, which permitted the Hoops to spend greater than they typically do in the market.
Meanwhile, Celtic’s table-topping Scottish Premiership meeting with Aberdeen will not be broadcast on television.
Sky Sports did not choose to cover the league game when they made their television schedule in early September.
On September 12, the TV schedule for the weekend of October 19/20 was revealed, with Celtic’s match against Aberdeen being omitted.
Sky Sports will instead show Kilmarnock’s league match against Rangers.
