The Tony Elumelu Foundation is a leading philanthropic organization that empowers a new generation of African entrepreneurs, drives poverty eradication, catalyzes job creation in all 54 African countries, and ensures inclusive economic empowerment.

Details:

Since the inception of the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme in 2015, the Foundation has trained over 1.5 million young Africans on its digital hub, TEFConnect, and distributed nearly USD$100 million in direct funding to 18,000 African women and men, who have created over 400,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The Foundation’s mission is based on Africapitalism, which sees the private sector, particularly entrepreneurs, as a catalyst for Africa’s social and economic development. The Foundation’s ability to fund, train, mentor, and network young African entrepreneurs has resulted in a unique platform for catalyzing growth across the African continent.

The foundation typically selects candidates from a large pool of applications from all 54 African countries. The selected candidates are then trained and mentored for a 12-week period. At the end of the program, the finalists receive $5000 in non-refundable first-stage seed capital to launch their proposed business. A second stage returnable investment will then be made available to candidates whose businesses proved successful.
