Applications for 2023 African Union (AU) Internships are now open for young people from African Union member countries.

Students in their final year of undergraduate studies, postgraduate students, and graduates from a recognized institution of learning are encouraged to apply.

The program’s goal is to expose participants to the workings of the AU at an early point in their professional careers and to help them develop their personal and professional skills.

Internship Details:

The AU internship program is a full-time commitment that allows qualified individuals from a variety of academic backgrounds to get professional experience at the AU.

Internship Requirements:

To be considered for the AU Internship, you must:

  • Be national of the African Union’s Member States;
  • Be a student enrolled in full-time undergraduate (in final year of study)/ postgraduate study or graduates from a recognized institution of learning;
  • Be fluent in one of the AU official working languages (Arabic, English, French or Portuguese, Kishwahili);
  • Be aged between 22 and 32 at the time of application;
  • Meet the requirements specified in the terms of reference.

Internship Duration and Reward

  • Interns will be accepted for a minimum of 3 months, with the possibility of extension for another 3 months
  • The AU will further gain support from participants who possess adequate knowledge and skills in relevant areas and serve as a potential grooming ground for future African Leaders.
  • It provides an avenue for participants to gain hands-on experience in various applicable fields, while learning in an intercultural environment.
  • The program aims to expose participants to the workings of the AU at an early stage of their professional career and strengthen their personal and professional skills.
