Scholarships from the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) and the Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarship (TGRS) are offered to high-achieving international and local candidates year-round.

Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarships are available in all research fields at the University of Tasmania and will be offered to applicants who have exhibited research potential.

Scholarships are awarded competitively based on academic performance, experience, prior learning, and other relevant qualifications. New applicants are given priority in strategic research areas. Requirements:

To be eligible for a University of Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarships;

  • Successful applicants must have completed at least four years of tertiary education studies and have achieved at least an upper second class Honours degree or equivalent.
  • Awards are only available to those who will be undertaking a full-time research Masters or Doctoral degree in 2024.
  • Candidates must not be receiving another equivalent award, scholarship or salary to undertake the proposed program (if that income is greater than seventy-five per cent of the base Research Training Program stipend rate).

Benefits:

  • The duration of the Award is three years and six months for a Doctoral candidate and two years for a Masters candidate.
  • Stipends will be at the rate of $32,192 per annum non-taxable.
  • Award holders can be reimbursed for up to AUD$2,000 in total upon production of receipts.

Required Documents:

To apply for the Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarship, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • A copy of your passport
  • A signed copy of the Supervisory support form
  • A Research Proposal
  • Evidence of your qualifications
  • Certified copies of transcripts/academic records and testamur/degree certificates for ALL previous university studies, complete and incomplete.
  • A copy of your research thesis (from your Honours or Masters degree)
  • A Curriculum Vitae (CV), this must include the contact details of two referees
  • Evidence of English language proficiency
