Now, this is how to write a short resignation letter:
You made the choice to leave your work and seek another opportunity. Or not. In either case, you should create a basic letter of resignation to inform human resources and give your employer enough time to find a replacement.
This is how to resign gracefully:
1. Address Your Employer
Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when you inform your supervisor you are leaving your job. And you have to do it twice: first in person and then on writing. What a nightmare. Regardless, your employer deserves a suitable address.
In the letter of resignation, include your basic contact information in the header. This includes:
- Your full name
- Address
- Phone number
- Email address.
Here’s how the header of a resignation letter should look:

Criders Corners, PA 16033

2. State the Basics
Now it’s time to put forward the most basic information in your resignation letter. You must say from which position and company you resign to avoid leaving any room for questions. Plus, make the effective date your last day at work.
Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from my position as Sales Associate with Buyerific, effective May 31, 2023.

3. Mark Your Gratitude
So, the next step in your resignation letter is to express your gratitude for everything you’ve learnt and loved. Despite leaving the organization, you still want to leave a positive impression. After all, who knows—you might come back or need a good reference from your workplace. It’s best to avoid burning bridges.
I greatly appreciate the support and opportunities you have provided me during my time with Buyerific. I have enjoyed the responsibility of training my colleagues and working with them on the automation project. It has been a sincere pleasure working with you and the team.
4. Offer Your Help
Finally, offer to help with the transfer. You want to be your best self to the end. Again, it’s about making a lasting positive impact while you’re still present. So, don’t promise anything you won’t be able to deliver within the two-week notice time specified in the letter.
I’ll do everything to ensure the smooth passing of my responsibilities during the next two weeks. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help with that transition.
I wish the company continued success and hope to stay in touch.
Sincerely,

Resignation Letter Format
Letters of resignation are formal letters, and you must follow this structure. Let me show you how to accomplish this:
- Create 1-inch margins on all sides and leave 1–1.15 line spacing in the text.
- Choose 1.5 spacing between paragraphs.
- Pick a legible font, such as Arial or Helvetica. Make it between 10–12 points in font size.
- Left-align your writing.
- Stick to one page. You’ve said enough during your exit interview.
