Africa is distinguished by its unparalleled beauty, cultural richness, and untapped potential. Africa offers a diverse spectrum of experiences, from the Serengeti’s vast savannas to the bustling metropolises of Lagos and Johannesburg; yet, an adversary in the form of crime threatens the full realization of Africa’s potential. One of the most critical issues confronting the continent is the requirement for a low crime rate.

Fortunately, despite the world’s increasing criminality, several African countries are shining examples of security.

According to the Global Organized Crime Index 2023, on which this list is based, organized crime is still on the rise globally, with 83% of the world’s population living in high-crime zones.

In contrast, the proportion of people who are vulnerable to organized crime has declined significantly: In such conditions, 62% of the world’s population today lives, dropping from 79.4% in 2021.
