The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program helps Canadian post-secondary graduates to get useful work experience.

Note: Work obtained through the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program may help support your application to become a permanent resident of Canada.

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program

This class is for people who have prior skilled work experience that comes in the category of Skill 0, A or B.

Managerial jobs (skill type 0), Professional jobs (skill level A), Technical jobs and skilled trades (skill level B).

However, because this is a foreign experience and not in Canada, you can apply for this program if you are classified as having one of the skill kinds and have worked in another nation with the same skill set. If you have a letter of offer from a Canadian employer.

These two programs are generally the most significant for students, but a student without a job can also apply for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

  • Comprehensive Ranking System

People who have rated higher on the list of people who have applied for the CRS are invited. To obtain a PR, an individual must first examine their profile with the CRS. Following submission, the officials review the profile and assign points to it, giving all of the persons ranks depending on the profile.

The CRS is out of 1200 points and the points are calculated on several categories,

The first 600 points out of 1200 are calculated with,

  • Skills and experience factors
  • Spouse factors, such as their language skills and education
  • Skills transferability, including education and work experience

The next 600 points are calculated with,

  • Canadian degrees, diplomas or certificates
  • A valid job offer
  • A nomination from a province or territory
  • A brother or sister living in Canada who is a citizen or permanent resident
  • Strong French language skills

These points are known as Core points and Additional Points which are added in total to get your total score.

Your CRS score is taken from a pool once your online form is reviewed. You can improve your profile to maximize your points and chances of getting a PR status invitation and a job offer. The Canadian Government urges you to sign up for Job Bank and search for a job based on your profile! Canada’s official job site is Job Bank.

If your profile and CRS score are good, the government invites you to accept your PR at a certain time. On March 13, 2020, the CRS score distribution was released online. 146,881 persons applied, and the government sent 3,232 invites to the top CRS scorers! 467/1200 was the lowest score invited.

Invitees had 60 days to accept, and if they declined, they had to start over. The next pooling includes all non-invited participants. However, the profile expires after a year and must be recreated.

Many international students find the Point System difficult due to the numbers and statistics, but if they use their time carefully and write down everything, the CRS can be a success.

Canada has world-class education, universities, research, and industry exposure, as well as unique PR. Congratulations on choosing Canada for education!
