Chris Sutton’s humorous dig at Rangers: ‘phenomenal’ Celtic Hammer Hearts
Celtic fans sung ‘Beautiful Sunday’ as they watched their side defeat Hearts, while Rangers dropped points at Ibrox and Aberdeen lost at St Mirren.
It is truly a gorgeous Sunday, as Brendan Rodgers’ side now has broad daylight at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings, with Celtic two points clear of Aberdeen and 11 points ahead of Rangers.
Celtic never got out of second gear at Tynecastle in a goalless first half as they struggled to establish their rhythm.
However, a halftime chat from Brendan Rodgers ignited Celtic’s thrashing of Hearts, as goals from Kyogo Furuhashi, Nicolas Kuhn, and a double from substitute Adam Idah ensured the three points were returned to Paradise.
And it was those three Hoops players who prompted Chris Sutton’s cheeky tweet following the Tynecastle win, in which the former Celtic striker targeted Rangers.
Chris Sutton says Aberdeen, not Rangers, are Celtic’s ‘real challengers’ for the Scottish Premiership title
Sutton is well-known for his sly digs throughout the city whenever the Ibrox club fails to reduce the distance on Celtic.
And, at full-time inside Tynecastle, the Hoops star hailed three Celtic players while criticising their Glasgow opponents.
Sutton said, “Phenomenal second half from Celtic. Kyogo’s movement excellent and Nicolas Kuhn looks absolutely quality. What a finish 👏👏
“Two goals will do the world of good for Adam Idah. 3 points clear of the real challengers Aberdeen… good point for Rangers in 3rd👏👏.”
The Scottish Premiership table is already taking shape, with Rangers’ challenge (if there ever was one) fading and Aberdeen inexorably dropping points.
And Sutton wasn’t the only one who was pleased with all three results.

A wonderful play on Henrik Larsson’s moniker and Celtic’s Christmas advert summed up Brendan Rodgers’ team’s continued lead at the top of the table.
With Aberdeen coming up on December 4th, Celtic fans could receive a genuine Christmas present two weeks before Santa returns to Parkhead.
