Za’Darius Smith, the Lions’ new pass rusher, sends a three-word message to his teammates following their victory over the Texans
The Detroit Lions’ defense recovered from a sluggish first half to shut down CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans on Sunday night, leading the Lions to a 26-23 road win.
The Lions fired Stroud four times despite the absence of former Defensive Player of the Year candidate Aidan Hutchinson, and they limited Houston to zero second-half points.
The Lions’ pass rush is anticipated to improve even more this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as trade addition Za’Darius Smith, formerly of the Cleveland Browns, prepares to make his Honolulu Blue and Silver debut at Ford Field on Sunday.
Smith could not contain his excitement for the Lions’ NFC North leading 8th win of the season on Sunday as he released a message in support of his new Detroit teammates.
“Great team win!! I can’t wait,” Smith added along with a “clock” emoji signifying his forthcoming Lions debut.
Smith also touted his “new profile pic,” taken at courtside of a Detroit Pistons game in downtown Detroit prior to Sunday’s game in Houston.
Smith has five sacks this season, the most recent on October 27 against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, the AFC runners-up from the previous year.
He is anticipated to bring a powerful pass rusher to the Lions’ star-studded defensive line, which includes budding studs Alim McNeill and D.J. Reader, among others.
