The Washington Commanders are gearing up for a critical Week 9 game. They travel to face the New York Giants, an NFC East opponent, in a favorable matchup. The Commanders enter MetLife Stadium as the favored.

The Giants are 0-4 at home and 2-6 on the season, which bodes well for Washington, who is 6-2. With rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels generating MVP talk, the Commanders could profit from a big win and continue their surprising season.

However, with the trade deadline approaching shortly after Week 9, Washington may engage in transactions following the game.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler identified potential “under-the-radar” players attracting trade interest, including Commanders defensive back Darrick Forrest, who has dropped out of the rotation. He claimed a “fresh start” as the reason Forrest may be moving.

“Washington’s Darrick Forrest is in a similar situation, a former starter who’s out of the rotation and could need a fresh start elsewhere,” Fowler reported.

With the addition of general manager Adam Peters, expect the team to be buyers at the deadline as they continue to build around Daniels. However, in the midst of a flurry of transactions, selling may be the best option. Forrest has appeared in three games this season, but has made 0 starts.

The Commanders keep moving forward, and Forrest appears to be falling behind. He had a successful year in 2022, making 11 starts in 17 matches and recording four interceptions and 88 tackles.

The safety position isn’t a source of worry for Washington, and Forrest may be moved while the team attempts to improve other position groups while also giving the 25-year-old a second opportunity in the league following several healthy scratches.
