The NFL has acknowledged that it is aware of the situation and was notified by the Lions immediately after the occurrence. However, the league has declared that it has “no further comment at this time” and will not take any action until the legal case is completed.

The revelation about Jameson Williams’ legal problem comes at a time when he is already under investigation. The young receiver just served a six-game ban, part of which was due to a violation of the NFL’s gambling policy. This recent situation presents new issues for both the Lions and Williams as he seeks to establish himself in Detroit’s system.

If the Wayne County Prosecutor decides to press charges, the NFL is anticipated to closely follow the situation but will not take any disciplinary action until a legal resolution is reached. In most matters involving legal reviews, the NFL waits until the judicial system has completed its course before intervening. Williams’ representatives indicated that all appropriate documentation for the guns was in place and that they would fully help with the investigation.
