The Cleveland Guardians enjoyed a tremendous 2024 season, but they fell short of their ultimate aim of winning the World Series, losing 4-1 to the New York Yankees in the ALCS.

In the days and weeks following the ALCS loss, it’s time to reflect on the season that was, and backup catcher Austin Hedges recently gave a message about the team’s direction for the coming season.

The Guardians’ official X account posted a message from Hedges, stating, “The job’s not done…”We have this complete team returning, and the fans have backed us all year, and now that they have a group to look forward to next year, they will come out loud and noisy.”

Hedges added, “A lot of teams go in and they change personnel year after year, but this is a very similar group coming back next year and I think the Cleveland fans have a lot to look forward to.”

Hedges is a free agent, but this statement makes it clearly clear that he would not mind returning to Cleveland for another try at the World Series.

While his bat remains a huge issue, he is an excellent complement to both starter catcher Bo Naylor and the pitching staff as a whole, thus even though he hit.152 this season, one would expect the Guardians to try to keep him this offseason.

In addition to Hedges, Cleveland’s only notable free agents this offseason are Alex Cobb and Shane Bieber.
