Brendan Rodgers excited as Celtic sign ‘hugely talented’ former EFL Man after spells at Crystal Palace and Fulham
Celtic have been active during the international break, and they have formally named Paul Tisdale as Head of Football Operations.
The 51-year-old has an intriguing reputation from his time in and out of the dugout, as well as the self-proclaimed title of ‘Football Doctor’ for his unusual perspective on the game.
Coming in as a direct replacement for Mark Lawwell following his and Joe Dudgeon’s resignation earlier this year, Celtic has been in communication with Tisdale for over a year, having first spoken to the former Exeter City manager in July 2023.
Over the summer, the well-connected individual worked with Brendan Rodgers and top scout Joe Lefevre on the Bhoys’ recruitment process.
Celtic confirmed Tisdale’s appointment, and he has already spoken out about his ambitions at the club.

Brendan Rodgers excited to work with ‘tremendous’ Paul Tisdale
Earlier in the day, 67 Hail Hail brought supporters Brendan Rodgers’ initial reaction to Tisdale’s appointment at Celtic, as he said: “He knows modern football inside out, he understands what we need as a club, what our team needs to operate at a high level, and how we can develop positively and successfully across a number of functions within the club.
“I have known Paul for some time and have been well aware of his work. I know that he will be a huge asset to Celtic and that his knowledge, talent and tremendous work ethic will be crucial to us as we drive forward across a number of areas, always with the aim of delivering higher performance and more and more success.”
More importantly, the manager must agree with any significant hires, as it will be his responsibility to consult with the new CEO on topics relating to player recruiting, analytics, and development.
If Brendan Rodgers and the club’s leadership approve of the recruitment, supporters will welcome him with open arms.
Celtic are in a good position both on and off the pitch, which can only be improved by off-field appointments to address critical issues.
