Chris Sutton has stated that Aberdeen has the ability to disturb the Scottish Premiership’s

traditional top two.

Celtic and Rangers have usually dominated the league, but this season, under Jimmy Thelin’s direction, Aberdeen is matching Brendan Rodgers’ champions at the top of the table, with both teams winning seven of their first seven games.

Philippe Clement’s Light Blues are currently five points behind, and this weekend promises an exciting top-of-the-table battle at Parkhead.

It is a critical season for Aberdeen, who will also meet Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final at Hampden before the November international break, with Rangers and Dundee United coming before that, according to the Daily Record.

Their early season record and ability to secure results, such as their comeback against Hearts, have raised concerns about their capacity to continue their campaign.

This prompted a fan to ask Celtic great Sutton during his ‘Questions with Chris’ section on the Daily Mail’s ‘It’s all Kicking Off podcast’: What changes must occur in Scotland for teams outside the top two to contend for the title?

Sutton weighed in on the discussion, saying: “Is Shiv going to include England in that as well with Manchester City being the dominant force? But I think Aberdeen have won every game and so have Celtic this season.
